Competitive Ballroom Dancing for Amateur Couples

For dance couples interested in a competitive aspect of ballroom dancing, or dancesport, we offer professional competitive dance instruction for amateur couples, kids, teenagers, and adults. We teach all levels of competitive ballroom dancing, from pre-bronze to championship. You don't have to be an advanced ballroom dancer to participate in ballroom dance competitions. You can start competing even as a beginner. Most dancesport competitions have events for newcomers who have never competed before. Star Dance School competitive amateur dancers regularly participate in many dance competitions in Massachusetts, United States and abroad. Our dance instructors are experienced competitive dancers who have competed in numerous ballroom and latin dancesport competititions all over the world, with many years of coaching experience in training all levels of competitive dance couples, from beginners to champions. They will tailor an individualized choreography and group/private dance lesson plan for every dancing couple they teach, and provide you wiith all necessary guidance to be a successful dance competitior. All we need from you is your regular attendance, hard work and dedication.

Salsa, Bachata, Latin Social Dance Classes

Our Salsa, Bachata, and Latin group dance classes range from beginner to advanced, and meet almost every day, either in Newton, or Brighton studio locations. Each class is a great workout, and a perfect opportunity to learn social latin dancing techniques, meet new people, get in shape, and just a great way to relax, and have fun! It's OK if you're a beginner or never even danced before! No need to bring a partner. All ages are welcome! Each group class covers different dances and dance moves, so every student can take classes multiple times a week, and learn more! For example, we might learn certain Salsa patterns on Monday in Brighton, and then learn some new Bachata, or Merengue moves on Tuesday in Newton. Don't forget to wear comfortable casual clothes and shoes!

Waltz

Legendary symbol of beauty and romance, Waltz is a smooth progressive dance characterized by long, flowing movements, continuous turns, and rise & fall. Slow Waltz originated from a style of Waltz called the Boston, with slower turns, and more longer, gliding movements. Beautiful, elegant, emotional, and romantic, a Slow Waltz, is a dance of the heart and soul, and is a great choice for a first wedding dance. Very popular social dance, Waltz is also one of the five dances of the Standard, or Modern program of international ballroom dance competitions, International Standard Ballroom, and American Smooth Dancing Style.

Silver Wedding Dance Package

Our Silver Wedding Dance package is ideal for intermediate to advanced level of dancers, or for a couple who are looking for an easy, fun, and affordable way to survive the First Dance. Free introductory private dance lesson, Five 45 min. private dance lessons, Five 45 min. group dance classes of your choice.

Competitive Hip Hop & Breakdance

Competitive Hip Hop and Breakdance program at Star Dance School is designed for dancers ages 5 and up who love to dance and compete, and are looking for a challenging and diverse environment in which to grow and develop as a dancer. Star Dance School dance instructors, experienced competitive hip-hop dancers, have developed a top level competitive dance program that is designed for the most serious dancers, and combines hip hop, breakdance, locking, popping, housing, crumping, acrobatics, and fitness. Enrollment for our competitive street dancing program is offered by audition only. All students are placed into teams by age and ability, from beginner to Champion. We keep our dance class sizes small in order to provide more personalized, individual attention to each student. Our dance instructors will tailor an individualized choreography and group/private dance lesson plan for every dancing crew they teach, and provide them with all necessary guidance to be a successful dance competitior. If you interested in joining Star Dance School studio crews, you don't have to be an advanced hip hop or breakdance dancer. You can start competing even as a beginner. However, you have to be a serious, motivated dancer, aware that you are a part of a team, and responsible for making sure you attend every class on a regular and timely basis. As a competitive dance student you will receive more hours of instruction per week and are required to participate in all competitions and performances, which means a certain financial responsibility, such as costume fees, private dance lessons, additional rehearsals, and traveling costs. When we place young children in our competitive dance program, we expect 100% commitment from both the students and the parents.
